| In order to qualify for AME an individual has to pass the following papers conducted by DGCA and obtain a Basic License. |

- Heavy Aeroplane
- Rotary Wing Aircraft
- Gas Turbine Engines

- Instrument Systems
- Radio Navigation Systems

| To get a Basic License in any of the above said categories candidate has to pass General Papers 1 & 2 and also at least one paper from any of the categories mentioned in Paper 3 |

After acquiring the Basic License and requisite experience in the relevant category the candidate becomes eligible to appear in Paper 4. On passing Paper 4 and qualify the Oral cum Practical examinations the candidate is granted AME license in that particular category by DGCA. A candidate can acquire any number of Basic licenses in each stream and subsequent type ratings in his AME license.
The above said examinations are conducted by DGCA thrice a year generally in the second week of February, June and October in a calendar year.
The pass mark for all written examinations conducted by DGCA is 70% |
